ASP Tri-Cities Blitz Build Weekend

ASP Tri-Cities thanks everyone who came out for the 2010 Wintry Mix Blitz Weekend!

Volunteers donated their time on Saturday to help the Tri-Cities staff do a bit of spring cleaning in the warehouse.  With a few impromptu dance parties sprinkled throughout the day, the tools and materials are now sorted and ready for the busy spring ahead!

We were also pleased to work with students from Tusculum College in conjunction with a class on homelessness.  Students joined the staff of Tri-Cities in discussing the cycle of poverty in central Appalachia and its impact on housing. Additionally, students took part in team building exercises that not only were a lot of fun, but also familiarized everyone with power tools.  We look forward to the class joining us for a build day at the end of the month where students will work on modifying a home to be wheelchair accessible for a local Johnson City resident.

Thanks again to all of the volunteers who made this weekend possible, you were a lot of fun to get to know and work with!

If you are interested in serving with ASP in the Tri-Cities area please check out the schedule of future blitz days.  Or if you would like to set up a volunteer day for you or a group, contact us at tricities@asphome.org or 423-854-4428.
