ASP Group Leaders: Why Serve with ASP?

Build your chuch family by building

Appalachia Service Project provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation. That's because ASP makes churches stronger. It's a highlight in their year -- and a turning point in their lives.

Appalachia Service Project

Once your group has their first ASP project under their belts, it could well become a critical part of your church year. The fundraising projects you do to get ready, and the excitement you bring home afterwards, will create a buzz that will rally your church around your cause. And the relationships you build at ASP will keep growing long after you return home.

But more importantly, the life lessons you learn in Appalachia will enrich your faith and build character. Armed with a new heart for Christian service, your group will begin to give back to their own families, to your church, and to your community.

Plus, every detail of our program is turn-key. ASP takes much of the burden of logistics off of you -- and frees you to minister to the hearts and minds of your group.

We'll provide you with plans for the preparation phase: from church program tips, to fundraising tools, to study materials to help you learn about Appalachian culture. And when you arrive in Appalachia, you'll be housed in one of ASP's several base camps -- whether it's a school or community center rented for the summer, or one of our climate-controlled year-round centers, with bunk beds and hearty meals. Your group will receive all the tools, construction materials and supervision they need to be productive.
