A job for the summer, rewards for a lifetime
If you are a prospective New Staff applicant interested in applying for summer 2013 and would like more information, please contact Steve.Tomick@ASPhome.org
Longing to make a difference? Up for a real challenge? Then you might have what it takes to join ASP's summer staff.
You'll work in a team with 3 other summer staff members, running the volunteer program at your location. Every week, you'll welcome a new group of volunteers and make sure they provide quality home repairs to Appalachian families. You'll help them develop meaningful relationships with those families, while making sure the volunteers' needs -- from food and water to rest and encouragement -- are being met.
You'll make sure people get to their work sites, know what to do, and how to do it. You'll oversee the distribution of tools and construction materials from site to site. And you'll help solve the practical problems that come up in any complex undertaking.
And every evening, when the volunteers gather at base camp tired and happy, you'll lead them in spiritual programs to help them appreciate and learn from their incredible experience.
The work is demanding. The pace is hectic. The conditions are far from luxurious. But the rewards are truly life-changing. You'll see the lives of Appalachian families changed, and the hearts of volunteers transformed. Best of all, you'll know that for one entire summer, you did all you could, and gave everything you had, to help your fellow human beings and to serve your God.
