Staff Liaison:
Staff Liaisons are new or (preferably) experienced staff members with at least one year of Summer Staff experience. During training, Liaisons are expected to assist members of the Home Repair Ministries Department (HRMD) with the day to day duties, including (but not limited to) purchasing food, supplies and materials, and running mail in addition to attending construction and general sessions. After training, staff liaisons travel extensively between three to five counties and assist staffers with day to day duties, including dump, home visits, office cleaning, leading volunteers, and reporting to a member of the HRMD, among other things. Staff Liaisons should be ready to step into the Center Staff role at any point throughout the summer in the event that another Center Staff member is unable to perform their duties.

Chaplains:
Chaplains are staff members with experience in spiritual leadership and counseling. Applicants are not required to have worked or volunteered with ASP before. Applicants in the process of pursuing a post-graduate religion related degree are looked upon favorably. During 11 weeks of the summer, chaplains will provide spiritual training, guidance and support to staff members, evaluate and enhance spiritual programming at summer centers and assist staff with other tasks (dump, errands, etc.).

Dump Truck Driver:
Dump Truck Drivers are staff members who are required to travel extensively throughout ASP’s service area, removing construction debris from worksites as directed by summer staff members. Dump Truck Drivers are expected to adhere to safe driving practices as well as assist staff with other tasks (office work, errands, etc.) as needed. Applicants are not required to have worked or volunteered with ASP before. Applicants who have experience operating a dump truck and/or other heavy machinery will be looked upon favorably.

Construction Consultant:
The Construction Consultant position combines problem-solving, construction management, long-range planning and teaching within ASP’s summer home repair program. Responsible to the Home Repair Coordinator, the Construction Consultant provides construction insight and expertise within the summer staff’s limited budget. The Construction Consultant typically works with three to five summer center staffs in the rehabilitation of substandard housing. Construction Consultants are also responsible for advising staff on county code requirements and must work with inspectors, volunteers and staff to ensure code compliance. Applicants are not required to have worked or volunteered with ASP before, but should have extensive experience in building practices

bringing youth, adult, and college volunteers into rural Central Appalachia to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families in need.
