ASP Adult Program: How to Get Started
Share

From lodging to meals to tools to construction materials, the ASP experience is designed to be totally turn-key -- freeing you to spend less time on logistics. And more time tending to your group’s personal and spiritual needs. Here are the steps you need to take to register and get ready:

Sign Up: Apply to Volunteer

The application process is simple:

  1. Check out our online calendar to browse available trip dates and locations. (You can serve for a week or a long weekend any time between September and April.)
  2. Call our Volunteer Department to pre-register your group.
  3. Download, complete, and print the application form.
  4. Drop it in the mail with your $95 application fee.

Get Ready: Plan and Prepare for Your Trip

We provide tons of resources to help you prepare for the trip, and to study Appalachian history and culture. We strongly encourage you to conduct fundraisers, prepare carefully, and do team building exercises prior to your trip. You’ll have an even better experience if you do.

Show Up: Have the experience of a lifetime!

Finally, one to two weeks before the trip, the contact person for your group will talk directly to the staff at the center where you will be staying to finalize trip details, discuss any evening programming needs you might have, and to match your group’s skill level with appropriate projects. Your group will provide your own transportation to Appalachia, and our staff will take care of the details from there.

That’s all there is to it -- from there it’s a matter of showing up ready to raise roofs, fix foundations, and change lives.
