New for 2008 - Specialty Weekends!
ASP is now offering Specialty Weekends to widen our range of volunteering opportunities. Each weekend will feature rewarding home repair opportunities as well as times of reflection led by special speakers. These weekends offer participants an opportunity to enjoy a weekend of working and worshipping together in the hills and hollers of Central Appalachia. Resources for background checks on adult volunteers with youth
There are expenses associated with doing background checks. These cost of those clearances varies widely, depending on the agency chosen to conduct the background checks, but may be as little as $6 or as much as $50+ per search. You may visit these websites for more details or make your own choice for a background screening vendor.

Deadlines & important dates
- September 2007 (early) - Volunteer application forms posted on ASP's website. For questions, call the Volunteer Office at (423) 854-4405, (423) 854-4406, or (423) 854-4407.
- Autumn 2007 - Return application to ASP. ASP schedules as applications are received and on a first-come, first-served basis.
- November 1, 2007 - Applications received by this date will receive highest priority in scheduling. Applications received after November 1 will continue to be scheduled until all weeks are filled.
- Pre-Christmas 2007 - Notification of acceptance sent from ASP.
- January 2008 - Study/preparation materials sent from ASP.
- February 1, 2008 - Participation verfication form due. This form is found in the Volunteer Manual under the section Forms.
- March 1, 2008 - Due from group: Deposit Form and Volunteer Fee Deposit (non-refundable/non-transferable). We can NOT transfer to balance due!
- May 2008 - Sent from ASP: center location, directions, address and phone number for summer center.
- May 15, 2008 - Due from groups: Pre-Trip Communication Form.
- June 8 - August 2 - ASP's home repair program in 26 Central Appalachian communities.
- 1 to 2 weeks pre-trip - Group contact person talks with Center staff to finalize trip details.
