ASP is now offering "Specialty Weekends" to widen our range of volunteering opportunities. Each weekend will feature rewarding home repair opportunities as well as times of reflection led by special speakers. These weekends offer participants an opportunity to enjoy a weekend of working and worshipping together in the hills and hollers of Central Appalachia.
Family Weekend
- September 18-21, 2008
- Open to families with children ages 10 & up (Note: Male and female dorms only -- no family lodging available)
Women's Weekend
- November 6-9, 2008
- Open to women ages 13 and up
Collegiate Service Weekend
- December 11-14, 2008
- Special focus: home repair service & vocational discernment
Each weekend begins with supper on Thursday night, includes 2 full work days, and ends after worship on Sunday morning. An invited speaker will offer opportunities for reflection and/or activities each evening. Registration will be limited to 50 participants, and ASP hopes to have applications for each weekend no later than 2 months prior to the event. ASP reserves the right to cancel specialty weekends if enrollment fails to reach 20 participants. Cost per volunteer is $160, which covers programming, room and board, and contributes to the cost of building materials and supplies.
