Make a Gift to ASP: Other Ways to Give
Share

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matching gift programs that will double, and in some cases triple, the value of their employee's gifts. Some companies will even match gifts and/or volunteer hours made by retirees, spouses and/or children. Please contact your company's human resources department to determine if your company has a matching gift program and whether your gift to ASP is eligible for a match.

Gifts of Stock

Donations of appreciated securities, usually common stock, provide a tax-efficient way of making your gift.

Gifts of appreciated securities held for more than one year entitle you to a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of gift. Additionally, you avoid the capital gains tax that would otherwise be due on the appreciation if the security were sold.

Your broker can transfer securities in a brokerage account directly to Appalachia Service Project, Inc. via DTC # 0443, for credit to account # JGH126257.  Our broker is CrossBridge Wealth Management & Benefits Group, and our contact is Kevin Wilson, 423-477-4311.

Please have your broker send a fax to Lyssa Perry at 423-854-9771 or an e-mail (lyssa.perry@asphome.org) with the # of shares, the company name and your name so that we can accurately credit and track your donation.

Please notify us before you initiate a stock transfer so we can identify your gift when it is received and acknowledge it in a timely manner.

Caution: Depreciated securities (securities worth less than you paid for them) should not be given directly to Appalachia Service Project, Inc.. Instead, you should sell the securities to generate a tax-deductible capital loss (which can offset your capital gains or up to $3,000 of ordinary income) and give the sale proceeds to ASP.

Your gift, whether cash or appreciated securities, will be greatly appreciated!

For more information on gifts of appreciated securities, contact Lyssa Perry, Director of Philanthropy, at (423) 854-4422, or e-mail her at Lyssa.Perry@ASPhome.org.

In-Kind Donations

Appalachia Service Project is very thankful for your generosity and thoughtfulness! As a ministry focused on home repair and transformational volunteer experiences, we are simply not equipped to accept and/or distribute other types of donations, such as clothing, hygiene items, toys, books, etc. We are aware that there is a great need for such items in some of the communities that we serve, but in order to focus all resources on our mission of home repair, we can no longer accept them. Instead, we’d like to share with you the contact information for a few of our partner organizations who need and have the ability to distribute these items. Thanks again for your generosity!
