Where can I find information about my center?

Browse our Center Groups to learn about the counties we serve and find summer staff contact info. Get the latest updates from staff. And explore stories, photos, and videos from volunteers.

How do I create a profile?

Go to the Registration Page to create an account on ASP Connect. Click Connect to Facebook to login with your Facebook account. Or you can create an account using your email address.

Once you’ve signed in, you’re ready to create your profile, join a county group, post stories to your wall, find your friends, and send them messages to them.

What happens if I log in with my Facebook account?

You can log in with your Facebook account to interact with your Facebook friends on this site, and to share stuff you find here. It will also allow you to import your public Facebook photo albums to your ASP Connect profile. And you won’t have to remember another login and password.

Anything you find or post here on ASP Connect can also be shared on Facebook.  Click the Share on Facebook button next to any update, photo album, or video, and it will be posted on your Facebook profile for your friends to check out.

What is a Center Group?

Each county we serve has its own group on ASP Connect where you can learn about the community, center and staff before you even arrive. You’ll also get weekly updates from staff. And best of all, you’ll browse stories, pictures and videos from other volunteers at your center – so you can see lives and homes transformed from before you load the van, until after the last nail is hammered. Browse Center Groups.

How do I join a Center Group?

You can join a Center Group as part of the signup process.  If you did not join a group then, or would like to join another group, visit the Center Groups page, select the center you wish to join, and click the Join This Group link in the left sidebar.  Anyone can view a Center Group (even if you are not a member of the site), but you must be a site member and be logged in to join a Center Group.  If you are not a site member, please register now.

Most computers come with a video editing application already installed, such as Apple iMovie or Microsoft Movie Maker. These programs make it a snap to create photo slideshows, add music, edit video, and more. So whether it's a simple webcam video about what ASP means to you, a photo slideshow of your trip, or a fancy scripted and edited movie – get creative and share your videos!

You can also post your videos to your Center Group and to your Facebook profile by clicking the checkboxes below the text box.

How do I post content to my Center Group?

To post your stories, photos, and videos to your Center Group, click the checkbox under each update before you click Post.  Then visit your Center Group and click the Volunteer Stories, Volunteer Photos, and Volunteer Video links to view content from other volunteers at your center.

How do I invite friends to join ASP Connect?

ASP Connect is the best way to keep in touch with new friends you make while serving with us. So invite your Facebook friends and email contacts to join you on ASP Connect.

You can also check your Center Group for a list of group members – other volunteers who served in your county.  Click their profile pictures to view their profiles and add them as your friends on ASP Connect.

What kind of content is not permitted on ASP Connect?

  • DON’T post anything that is insensitive to the families you serve.
Be careful not to post anything you wouldn’t want the family to see. A good rule of thumb is: if you wouldn’t say it on the worksite with the family present, don’t post it on ASP Connect.

  • DON’T post stories, photos, videos, or links that aren’t about ASP.
The point of this site is to see homes and lives transformed – not to browse pictures of your cousin’s sister’s baby shower. And also not to serve as your soapbox.

  • DON’T use last names of family members you serve.
You may use their first names or site code names, but please respect their privacy and don’t include last names. Again, be sensitive.
  • DON’T post anything dirty.
We’re not talking about muddy, sweaty, paint-covered kind of dirty – if you don’t end up like that at ASP, you haven’t really lived. We mean spam; foul language; rude or impolite comments, jokes, or discussions; personal attacks of any kind made to any member; racial slurs; and vulgar, obscene, sexually oriented, or otherwise offensive content. Posts like this will be deleted, and your account could even be banned.

Check out the rest of our Community Guidelines.

What should I do if I find inappropriate content posted by other members?

If you find a post offensive, flag it so we can review it. Just hover your mouse over the post, and click the Flag as Inappropriate link.

With all the stuff posted to ASP Connect each day, it’s possible that some inappropriate content will fall through the cracks. Remember that what one person finds offensive, another may find funny, or vice versa. So we apologize in advance for anything you may not like or agree with. Oh, and just so you know, ASP doesn't necessarily agree with or support everything our users post.

How do you use the information I post on ASP Connect?

Check out our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use to learn more about how we use information we collect. Or if you just enjoy reading legal jargon and want to know everything you can about why we do what we do at ASP.
