Hi again! This week we traveled to Nicholas County, WV and Wise County, VA. Over the past few weeks of the summer, I have met a lot of people from volunteers to staff to homeowners, and it has been incredible. I have seen how God moves in everyone’s lives. It is truly inspiring listening to homeowner stories and seeing how God has moved in their life and how positive they are given their situation. I have heard things like “God is so good,” “ASP is such a blessing,” “I didn’t think I would get the repairs, but God has a plan.” To see the light and spirit shine through these homeowners has been lovely. It is truly incredible how God works in everyone’s lives.
I have felt God‘s presence so strongly this summer, being with ASP. The ability to be God’s hands and feet and share the ASP story this summer has been such a blessing. While driving through the mountains of Wise Appalachia, one of the main roads has wood signs with Bible verses on them every quarter mile or so. It made me smile seeing the different ways you can see God in the Appalachian Mountains, and I wanted to share those with you.
The Bible verses spread along that road are below. At the beginning of the road, there’s a sign that says Jesus: Way, Truth, Life. I hope one of these Bible verses below inspires you and I hope you see how God works in your life!
Job 27:8
“For what hope have the godless when they are cut off, when God takes away their life?”
Psalm 130 3:4
“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”
1 Timothy 4:16
“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
John 14:6
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Mark 10:27
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Luke 12:4-5
“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.”
2 Corinthians 5:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”
Romans 10: 9-10
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Mark 12: 30-31
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
John 3:17
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
John 9:5
“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
So, spread your wings to have faith, spend more time with God, and be grateful for what you have.
Until next week!
